Obituary for Kimberly Elaine Carnes

Kimberly Elaine Carnes, age 61, of Lexington KY passed from this life due to natural causes April 4, 2018. Kim was born in Harlan, KY on November 11, 1956. She graduated from Heath High School (Ohio), received a BA with honors from University of the Cumberlands, an MA at Eastern Kentucky University, and her Rank 1 at Georgetown College. After a long successful career teaching, she retired as Creative Writing Instructor at Fayette County Public Schools, SCAPA Bluegrass. Kim worked diligently throughout her career to provide the highest quality of education for her students. She worked compassionately and persistently to help every student in her classes be successful. Kim received the honorary commission of Kentucky Colonel for her public service and work. Kim was a very talented creative person who was a faithful loving daughter, granddaughter, sister, and aunt. She enthusiastically encouraged her nieces and family through all their endeavors. Kim is survived by her parents Theresa (Taylor) and Donald Carnes of Newark, Ohio, her sister Elizabeth (Charles) Correll of Somerset, KY, her three nieces Katherine Correll, Amy (Rob) Hehre, Sarah Correll, aunt Sandy and uncle Rex Taylor, aunt Sue Carnes, and a number of cousins. She was recently preceded in death by her grandmother, Thelma (Martin) Taylor Saylor, to whom Kim devoted many years of companionship. Private services will be held by the family. Care Cremation and Funeral Service are entrusted with final care.
